Origin: This history of the martini is still blurry. Back in 1863, an Italian vermouth (fortified wine) maker started marketing their product under the brand name of Martini, after its director Alessandro Martini and the brand name may be the source of the cocktail’s name.
What you need:
- 2 ½ oz Gin
- ½ Dry Vermouth
- Olives or a lemon twist for garnish.
Finally, some people, and most notably, James Bond prefer a shaken Martini over a stirred one. But, shaking the drink breakdowns the ice, which leads to a watered-down drink. Some dilution is good because it softens the spirits so you can taste the botanicals better, and not just the sting of the alcohol.
